Alpha Thalassemia Minor - Heterozygous

In the heterozygous state (--/αα), one parent contributes a normal gene while the other one a gene with both alpha chain gene loci deleted. Since the inheritance pattern is diferent between the mother and father, this is termed heterozygous.
